About us
Our passion for wine
Our story begins with a deep attachment to the land and an innate passion for wine, rooted in the distant lands of Crimea, a region renowned for its ancient winemaking tradition. Here, among the hills overlooking the Black Sea and the cellars that date back to the times of the Tsars, the nectar of the gods was cultivated and produced.
However, fate led our founder to leave her homeland. Without knowing it, her path led her to Italy, to the suggestive region of Abruzzo, where the mountains meet the gentle hills that extend to the sea. Here, in a small village called Monteodorisio, she made a surprising discovery: lush vineyards that were so reminiscent of her beloved land.
With the skill and wisdom passed down to her by Panfilo, a local elder who became an invaluable mentor to her, she began her journey into the universe of viticulture. Equipped with unparalleled strength and passion, she took the reins of the company with determination.
The first fruits of her work were not long in coming. Thanks to a low row cultivation system and the collaboration with the internationally renowned oenologist Vittorio Festa, we have managed to produce wines of excellent quality, capable of expressing the essence and unique character of our land.
Mr. Panfilo and his wife Domenica, with great joy, passed on their love for vines and wine to their daughter-in-law Alona, thus creating an indissoluble bond that continues to guide our choices and inspire our work.
THE COMPANY
Poderi Alona is the result of a deep love for our territory, a passion that has been handed down for generations, from father to son. This indissoluble bond has allowed us to give life to our vineyard and to cultivate our great passion: the production of quality wines.
Located in the heart of Abruzzo, in the province of Chieti, in the suggestive Vastese area, our municipality of Monteodorisio, located 315 meters above sea level and inhabited by 2349 people, is the perfect setting for our company. Our headquarters are located precisely in Contrada Defenza, a few kilometers from the coast.
The Poderi Alona winery extends over over 30 hectares of land, where we cultivate native vines such as Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Pecorino, Cococciola and Pinot Grigio with care and dedication.
Our work is characterized by sacrifice, dedication and a deep passion for the territory and the products it gives us. For us, every bottle of wine is the result of a daily commitment and a profound respect for our land.
At our company, we organize tastings led by renowned local chefs, who expertly pair our wines with their dishes. We also offer introductory courses to the world of wine, designed for enthusiasts wishing to deepen their knowledge in this fascinating, constantly evolving sector.
